Why Would Your Friend or Family Make a Great Caregiver?

We know and appreciate the fact that you are part of our team. Have you ever thought, “Wow, my friend Suzie or my cousin Stan would make a great caregiver!” You know firsthand that caregiving is an admirable profession, and the majority of our workforce understand who would make a great caregiver to add to our team. The following article is something we encourage you to share with your friends and family who would make a great caregiver!

Reach out to those you know and ask them:

  • Do you know what a caregiver is? A caregiver is anyone responsible for providing care to an adult. Caregivers can be a family member, close friend, or a professional.
  • Have you considered becoming a caregiver and do you know what it entails?
  • Did you know that if you are already caring for a family member, you can get paid for doing it?

What are the duties of a caregiver?

Caring for members of our population in need requires a special person. It’s important to remember that they are dealing with a major transition in their lives, or could be faced with the loss of a spouse or the loss of their independence. People who find themselves in need of home care assistance are dealing with a myriad of emotions.

As you know, the duties of a caregiver are not easily summarized. By no means is this list all-inclusive, but here are a few services caregivers provide daily:

Respite Care

For short-term needs. If a regular caregiver is on vacation, out shopping or just needs a break, we can offer respite care in temporary situations.

Services include: A combination of attendant care, companionship, and housekeeping. Based on need, we provide primary caregivers with a break to care for their own health and well-being.

Attendant Care

Ideal for long-term needs and enable a person to remain at home as an alternative to a nursing home or long-term care facility.

Services include: Planning and preparing meals, cleaning, laundry, medication reminders, companionship, light housekeeping, fall prevention measures, errands and other types of non-medical care.

Personal Care

If a person has just been released from the hospital, or needs some help with bathing or personal hygiene, then we recommend personalized care.

Services include: Respectful assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, transfer from bed to wheelchair and other activities of daily living.

Habilitation

Self-help skill development for independence, socialization and enhanced life quality at home and within the community.

Services include: One-to-one teaching for improved communication skills, socialization, motor and cognitive functioning and training on personal and physical care needs.

Housekeeping

If a person is aging at home, disabled, recently hospitalized, or has a chronic medical condition that has left him/her unable to perform housecleaning tasks.

Services include: Light housekeeping including cleaning, dishes and laundry. No windows.

Caregiver requirements are not standard across the profession. There are a variety of home care agencies and organizations that offer caregiving. At Home Assist Health, our Care Team must have caregiving experience and a compassionate heart that exhibits unconditional kindness.

Our caregivers are known to be:
